be california. we want to see what the cutting edge is. most of a still look for california. -- loomost of us still look to california. what governor brown said about the traditional politics is all about taking the thing in making it fresh. to a certain extent, i tried to be a writer in college. i failed miserably. a professor said everything has been set but not everything has been said superbly. even if it had, everything must be said freshly again and again. you have to see a fresh lead to a certain extent. the real issue with -- in terms of asking the president, what are the things that matter most, a bass part of those profits would be invested in california. colorado would have a significant -- pretty much every state in the country would benefit. you look at the companies based in silicon valley. they have offices, you want to expand your business, think about those young people in colorado. everything -- stated say the same thing. that money would get spent over the country very rapidly. >> thank you. governor brown. >> it is a good idea to bring back that $1 trillion sitting out the

there was one report out there that the report that the california claims were not filed completely. we didn't report that or file a report for the last week. we didn't report they did file a report but we did report that its report may not have been complete and might have been some and process claims that were not included in the report that might have pushed down low weekly report and was down by 30,000 and here is a statement from california employment development department. reports that california failed to report data to the department of labour as required are incorrect and irresponsible and also says california continues to file unemployment claims on a timely basis. data on unemployment claims activity is required to be reported to the labor department every week so i wanted to get california at side of the story. gerri: we came up with this on our own. you got this from your own reporting and clearly this isn't the first time you call for comment. you are familiar with these people and wells forced in washington and certainly in this department. tell me what your source said to yo

and november 6th. earlier this month several candidates faced off in a debate for california's 26th district seat left open by the retirement of republican rules committee chair david dreier. this hour and a half long debate between julia brownley and republican tony strickland took place at california lutheran university in thousand oaks. in our d.c. newsroom. >>> now out to california. of course, the driving capital of the world where the problem concerns gasoline. both where to buy it and what you'll pay for it. nbc's kristen dahlgren, good evening. >> reporter: take a look. 5.69 for unleaded. so much, they actually had to put signs on the pumps apologizing to customers and saying it's not our fault. this is normally the time of year when we see gas prices drop. but while californians slept last night, prices went up an average of eight currents a gallon and experts say they're still climbing. they're calling it the highest single day increase in history. it comes down to refinery and supply chain problems. it started with the the fire at the richmond refinery in august. there was also a power failure at an exxonmobil refinery in southern california this week. and a pipeline shut town that further cut supplies so much that some gas stations ran out of gas including a costco near los angeles. some station owners say they're thinking of shutting down completely. they say it's too difficult to sell at these prices. >
